I can’t even knit just one thing at a time.
I can’t even knit just one thing at a time.
Eeee!!! Just received all the yarn I ordered last week and can now get started on my Christmas knitting!!! I’m super excited. For those of you on Ravelry you can follow along there. I’ll post my projects as they progress.
I’m still waiting on my new needles to come, but there are a few things I can begin before then.
So this past weekend was the baby shower for my brother’s new baby! I would have gotten around to this post before I left, but I was too busy trying to finish these up!!
I found all patterns on Ravelry.com. I even learned how to crochet for this blanket pattern because it is just so darn cute!!!
Here are the patterns. You need a ravelry account to view them.
I also packed them up in these badass little suitcases, which, I imagine, will double up as adorable storage in the baby’s room!
I think they liked them…I’ve only encountered a few people who don’t appreciate hand-made things. Hope they get lots of use!!!
I’m feeling very domestic (and a little sore) this morning. After taking Tyler to the skating rink for his birthday last night, I didn’t imagine I’d be doing a whole lot today. Well, since he left this morning to go backpacking, the kids and I had the place to ourselves. SO….we made the most of it.
First, I made up a double batch of Zucchini Chocolate Chip Muffins in an attempt to use up some of that giant bowl of shredded zucchini in my fridge. These now reside in my freezer and will feed us all week!
Then, WH and I did some basket painting while Helo napped. I’m always looking for activities to keep him quiet so he doesn’t wake up his brother. In this case, it also helped me get something done.
Once Helo was up we went on a walk. We picked up a movie and fresh kettle corn for movie night tonight, yarn for some new hats and corn dogs for lunch!
Back at the house, I actually managed to get BOTH monsters down for a nap and started on the first baby hat! I plan to make one for each of my monsters and another for my brother’s new guy. I spent most of their nap winding the hanks into balls (my least favorite part of knitting) but managed to at least get cast on.
Then it was time for movie night. WH had a couple friends over and we ordered pizza and all was nuts. And it was great. No one had any idea what happened in Tarsem’s “The Fall” because the kids were so loud, but we were able to mildly relax with some wine and none of the kids went home with any serious injuries so we’ll call it a success!
Oh! And I also got some clothes from a friend that ACTUALLY FIT ME! Score.
I have a new love: PINTEREST!!!! It’s an incredible place where I can collect all the random bits and pieces of the interwebs that call my name. I’m finding so many beautiful and inspirational blogs and websites, I only wish I had more time (and money!) to delve more deeply into this world.
I have so many things I want to do: Decorate my house, landscape the front lawn, finish Helo’s sweater and blanket, finish reading The Count of Monte Cristo, clean the carpets, and countless other projects already started and not. Alas, with 2 small children it may be some time before any of this comes to fruition, but here I am, in my bit of free time to share with you PINTEREST!!!
Go Play! 🙂
After a rather lengthy hiatus from most anything more productive than….well, showering, I’m back and revved up for the holidays! I’m kicking it back into gear and planning to emerge from the fog that clouds my baby brain.
Helo’s 3 months now and only waking up once or twice a night. That said, I’m beginning to function on a slightly higher level again and am trying to motivate myself to exercise a vocabulary that includes words above and beyond the usual ‘no’ and ‘stop that’ and ‘don’t hit him.’
I’ve also picked back up a few projects that I let fall wayside while I was miserably pregnant. I’ve nearly finished a couple of them already and making good headway on the others. See my progress!!
I’m excited to get caught up so I can get started on Helo’s crib bedding before he grows out of his cradle! Here’s a preview.
Here I go again. I’m giving my fingerless gloves a second go. If they turn out really well, they may even become a Christmas gift! I do think they’ll be really warm, but I’ll admit I’m using cheap yarn. I guess I can’t use the pricey stuff for every project! Anyhow, this is my first go at cables, so far so good. Nothing to it really!
