I can’t even knit just one thing at a time.
I can’t even knit just one thing at a time.
Eeee!!! Just received all the yarn I ordered last week and can now get started on my Christmas knitting!!! I’m super excited. For those of you on Ravelry you can follow along there. I’ll post my projects as they progress.
I’m still waiting on my new needles to come, but there are a few things I can begin before then.
And here we are, the official ‘what my kids were for Halloween’ post. You got a sneak peak at Woody’s vest the other day, but here’s how it turned out.
Helo’s costume was a bit of a bust, but I can’t take the blame for that. Will Haven picked it out! 😛 WH’s costume turned out pretty well if I do say so myself! I was missing a few pieces, but I don’t think they were necessary. I could find a yellow woven shirt so I drew lines on a tshirt with a red sharpie. The rest was easy enough to find.
How cute are Will Haven and Sabine?? And it only got cuter out there when a friend trick or treating with us convinced Wh to start asking for sausages when he went up for candy. Yes, seriously, my child was asking for sausages.
Got some Halloween running around done today. While we were at Michael’s this morning we found a cute little Halloween themed Mat Pad (see right) for $1.99. Been seeing a lot of craft paper chains in Pinterest lately and decided it would be a super fun project for Will Haven. Worked out pretty well I think, he sure loves playing with glue sticks!
Here is our finished product which now resides over our front door. (sticky fingers not shown.)
So, I got lazy with Helo’s costume, but only because WH decided that he wanted his baby brother to be a pumpkin and he saw a Pumpkin costume on an outing to Costco last week, so it was decided and we bought it. The end.
On the bright side, one down, only one to go. While I absolutely LOVE making these guys costumes, I’ll admit that I tend to get overwhelmed with all the things I have to do and how little time I have in which to do it!
So, that brings us to WH’s costume… Can you guess what it’s going to be?? Hint: It’s not a cow.
For me, we’ll see what I can scrape together at the last minute, as usual. I bought some face paint on my lunch break today. I’m think a mime…..or maybe I’ll just do sugar skull makeup. Speaking of which….I wonder who all is going to the Petaluma Dia de los Muertos event this weekend. Lots of fun is sure to be had!
So this past weekend was the baby shower for my brother’s new baby! I would have gotten around to this post before I left, but I was too busy trying to finish these up!!
I found all patterns on Ravelry.com. I even learned how to crochet for this blanket pattern because it is just so darn cute!!!
Here are the patterns. You need a ravelry account to view them.
I also packed them up in these badass little suitcases, which, I imagine, will double up as adorable storage in the baby’s room!
I think they liked them…I’ve only encountered a few people who don’t appreciate hand-made things. Hope they get lots of use!!!
I’m feeling very domestic (and a little sore) this morning. After taking Tyler to the skating rink for his birthday last night, I didn’t imagine I’d be doing a whole lot today. Well, since he left this morning to go backpacking, the kids and I had the place to ourselves. SO….we made the most of it.
First, I made up a double batch of Zucchini Chocolate Chip Muffins in an attempt to use up some of that giant bowl of shredded zucchini in my fridge. These now reside in my freezer and will feed us all week!
Then, WH and I did some basket painting while Helo napped. I’m always looking for activities to keep him quiet so he doesn’t wake up his brother. In this case, it also helped me get something done.
Once Helo was up we went on a walk. We picked up a movie and fresh kettle corn for movie night tonight, yarn for some new hats and corn dogs for lunch!
Back at the house, I actually managed to get BOTH monsters down for a nap and started on the first baby hat! I plan to make one for each of my monsters and another for my brother’s new guy. I spent most of their nap winding the hanks into balls (my least favorite part of knitting) but managed to at least get cast on.
Then it was time for movie night. WH had a couple friends over and we ordered pizza and all was nuts. And it was great. No one had any idea what happened in Tarsem’s “The Fall” because the kids were so loud, but we were able to mildly relax with some wine and none of the kids went home with any serious injuries so we’ll call it a success!
Oh! And I also got some clothes from a friend that ACTUALLY FIT ME! Score.
This seems kind of silly, since I already don’t have enough time to take a real shower most days, but I’ve decided that I want to learn to embroider. My house will soon look like an old lady’s! 😀
Just look at this cute little owl!! He needs to be on a pillow on my couch. For sure.
